Tengrinews.kz — Today, July 16, Jakarta, Indonesia, hosted the final day of the ASBC Asian U19 and U23 Boxing Championships. Kazakhstani athletes secured five gold medals on the closing day.
In the U19 category, Kazakhstan's youth team won two final bouts.
In the 70kg weight class, Beibarys Ashirbay delivered a dominant 5-0 victory over Japan's Kunimitsu Honjo. Later, in the 90+kg division, Vladislav Samozhonov defeated Uzbekistan's Islam Salikhov via a 3-2 split decision.
Silver medals were also claimed by Adil Askanbay (50kg), Akzhurek Kalabay (65kg), Timur Taibekov (80kg), and Ruslan Akhmetov (85kg).
In the U23 category, Aman Konysbek opened the scoring in the 75kg division with a 4-1 victory over Almaz Orozbekov of Kyrgyzstan.
Temirlan Mukatayev and Ibragim Betayev followed suit, defeating Uzbek boxers Norbek Abdullaev and Samir Sobirov with scores of 4-1 and 3-2, respectively.
The silver medalists in this category included Beksultan Boranbek (55kg), Nurassyl Tolebek (60kg), Nurbek Mursal (70kg), and Oner Seiilkhan (80kg).
In total, Kazakhstan's men's team secured 13 medals at the tournament (5 gold and 8 silver).
It is worth noting that the women's finals for the U19 and U23 categories took place yesterday, with Kazakhstan earning 9 medals (6 gold and 3 silver).
Overall standings: 11 gold medals for Kazakhstan.
