According to Rafael Urazbakhtin, the American rapper’s concert turned out to be more important for the city than comfortable conditions for his team in the Champions League.
“As for the relocation of the European competition match, we had options with Shymkent and Astana, but we chose Turkestan. We do not really have a choice. The concert is more important for the city than Kairat. Fine, then we will play in Turkestan,” the coach said after the win over Ordabasy in the Kazakhstan championship.
Kanye West’s manager earlier announced that a new concert by the famous rapper would take place at Almaty Central Stadium on August 14.
After that, Kairat said the date had not been agreed with the club, even though the Almaty side may have to play a home Champions League qualifying match on August 12.

For the match to take place, Kairat must get past Cyprus’ Omonia in the second round. The team is currently trailing 0:1 after the first leg. In that case, the Almaty club’s opponent in the third round will be the winner of the Levski (Bulgaria) — Universitatea (Romania) tie.
As a result, the potential match was agreed to be moved to Turkestan, meaning the Almaty side will have to play a crucial Champions League match away from their home stadium.
