Kazakhstani athlete becomes six-time Asian Games champion and makes history

Alexey Lutsenko finished first with a time of 4 hours, 13 minutes and 11 seconds, bringing another gold medal to Kazakhstan’s national team.

Another Kazakh cyclist, Yevgeniy Fedorov, finished second with a time of 4 hours, 15 minutes and 9 seconds, winning the silver medal. Japan’s Yuhi Todome completed the top three with a result of 4 hours, 15 minutes and 51 seconds.

As a reminder, Alexey Lutsenko had earlier also won the gold medal at the 20th Asian Games in the individual time trial. There, the leader of Kazakhstan’s national team won the race, covering the distance in 41:24.05.

At the moment, Alexey Lutsenko has six gold medals at the main continental competitions. With this achievement, he set a record for the number of top awards among athletes from Kazakhstan.

As a reminder, the 20th Summer Asian Games are being held from September 19 to October 4. Kazakhstan’s national team is represented at the Games by 558 athletes.

The competition program includes 43 sports and 71 disciplines, with 469 sets of medals to be awarded.

More than 11,000 athletes from 45 national Olympic committees representing Asian countries and regions, as well as the OCA Refugee Team, are taking part.
