Sanzhar Adilov brought Kazakhstan a historic Asian Games medal in MMA

Tengrinews.kz – Kazakh fighter Sanzhar Adilov won a bronze medal at the 20th Summer Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Adilov became a medalist in traditional-style MMA in the under-65-kilogram weight category.

Kazakhstan’s first MMA medal at the Asian Games

According to the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, Sanzhar Adilov’s medal is historic for Kazakhstan, as mixed martial arts have been included in the Asian Games program for the first time.

Thus, Adilov became one of the first Kazakh athletes to win an Asian Games medal in MMA.

The 20th Summer Asian Games are being held in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, 2026. By the end of the first day, Kazakhstan’s national team had won six medals — four gold and two bronze.

Sanzhar Adilov’s bronze became Kazakhstan’s seventh medal at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

Sanzhar Adilov is a Kazakh MMA fighter, world champion in amateur mixed martial arts and former Alash Pride league champion. He has competed in professional MMA since 2017.
