Tengrinews.kz — The new Kaysar Arena stadium in Kyzylorda has received UEFA’s highest category. It can now host Champions League matches, as well as games involving national teams, citing the press service of the Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF).
According to the KFF press service, the arena was inspected in April, and UEFA has now issued its verdict.
“Following the inspection and analysis of the reports, UEFA awarded Kaysar Arena the fourth, highest category. The Kyzylorda stadium is now fully ready to host international matches of the highest level, including Kazakhstan national team matches in the European Championship qualifiers and the Nations League, as well as qualifying and main-stage matches of European club tournaments: the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League,” the press service said.
The 21-billion-tenge stadium had no category since last October
The arena in Kyzylorda was completed and opened in October 2025. According to official data, 20.9 billion tenge was spent on its construction.
In January 2026, it emerged that the stadium had not yet passed a UEFA inspection. At the time, the press service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said that undergoing the inspection was a procedural matter and was not related to the arena being unready.
An international expert visited the stadium in April and immediately noted that Kaysar Arena had the potential to host international matches.
Kaysar Arena is the third stadium built in the country since independence
Since gaining independence, Kazakhstan has built three new football stadiums: Astana Arena with 30,000 seats, Turkistan Arena with 7,000 seats and Kaysar Arena with 11,000 seats.
All of them are equipped with artificial turf, which makes them especially uncomfortable for visiting teams from Europe, as players have to readjust.
