Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstani boxer Beibarys Ashirbai has won the first gold medal at the Asian Championships among athletes under 19.


In the final bout of the under-70 kilogram category, the Kazakhstani boxer entered the ring against Japan’s Kunimitsu Honjo.

The fight ended with Beibarys Ashirbai winning 5:0.

Thus, he became the champion of the continental tournament and won the gold medal.

It should be added that before Ashirbai, Adil Askanbai, Akzhurek Kalabai and Timur Taibekov had their final bouts.

The first lost to Uzbekistan’s Nozkosimov Utkizbek 0:5, the second was defeated by South Korea’s Daeho Kang 2:3, while the third was unable to beat Uzbekistan’s Abrorbek Sharipov.

As a result, three Kazakhstanis became silver medalists of the competition.

As a reminder, the Asian Boxing Championships among athletes under 19 and under 23 are being held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The tournament will conclude tomorrow with finals involving the men’s teams.
