Satpayev’s first match after injury

As a reminder, Dastan Satpayev played his first match after recovering from injury on October 10, 2026. It was an away fixture in the ninth round of the Championship, in which Burnley thrashed Watford 4–0 at Vicarage Road to secure their first win of the season.

Satpayev, who had been sidelined for more than a month with a hamstring injury, started the match on the bench. Head coach Nicky Hayen brought him on in the 74th minute in place of opening goalscorer Bruun Larsen, with the score already 3–0.

The Kazakhstani forward spent around 16 minutes on the pitch and immediately got involved in the game. He had 10 touches, completed two accurate passes, made one successful dribble, won two of four duels and registered one shot — a left-footed effort from the center of the penalty area in the 86th minute.

Toward the end of the match, Satpayev came close to providing an assist: after the goalkeeper made a save, he was first to the rebound and returned the ball to Jamie Vardy, who put it into the net. However, the officials ruled offside and the goal was disallowed.

Satpayev’s injury

Earlier, the Kazakhstani footballer had been recovering from an injury sustained in the Championship match against Middlesbrough on September 2.

He played more than 80 minutes in that game and was named one of the best players on the pitch, but was forced to come off. Satpayev subsequently missed four Championship matches and was also unable to help the Kazakhstan national team at the start of its Nations League campaign.
